It’s unclear if Gap and Banana will manage to get their fashion groove back. But investors and fashionistas alike will have to be patient: Peck said that results of the various steps the company has taken won’t kick in until the spring, a period he called the company’s “no excuses moment.” That means Gap will likely have another poor holiday season, which, in turn, will add to the pressure on Peck and his lieutenants to show their strategy is the right one.

Gap's Bloodbath Continues As April Sales Plummet

On a recorded call, the head of Gap Inc’s investor relations, Jack Calandra, pointed to a “tepid macro environment” for retail and store traffic problems that worsened in April even as he incredulously claimed that Gap is making “good progress” in righting itself.

If you're late to work, you're caught driving 10 miles per hour over the speed limit, you've forgotten to pay your power bill, or you thought Mother's Day was next weekend, then what should you say?

Repeat after me:

Tepid macro environment!

No need to apologize. It's the perfect excuse for all of your "no excuses" moments, lol. Sigh.

Forehead. Desk. Whack. Whack. Whack.

Some days I really love my blogging job. This is one of those days. The pay may be horrible, as working for free always is, but the entertainment benefits can more than compensate. That mythical corporate "no excuses" moment? I do hope investors weren't betting on THAT sure thing. Hahaha! :)
