Monday's Stock Market Tribute

The pre-markets look a bit weak. I'm therefore going to do something incredibly stupid. I'm going to pre-heckle.

This is very dangerous of course. The markets were down big on Friday and I'd normally expect some sort of relief rally.

This could end up being an epic
sarcasm fail. I just can't seem to help myself though. I'm rationalizing any excuse to post the following video, lol.

Becky is going to make one heck of an institutional trader. May she have a long and rewarding career at Goldman Sachs. I think she'll fit right in.

Goldman Sachs: Who We Look For

“Ideal candidates for the Securities Division are dynamic, quick-thinking self starters who have a real passion for the markets. The ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships with clients and colleagues from a diversity of backgrounds and experiences is crucial. Those who succeed in Securities thrive from the fast-paced, constantly changing environment where no two days are the same.” - Steve Windsor, Managing Director, European Sales

Awesome call with the pre-heckling.

In a way, you, me and others here have been pre-heckling with leverage as we've been predicting years of financial misery.

It's all starting to dawn on the CONsumers (and lenders):

What? You mean we actually have to pay back the money we borrowed with interest? That's not fair, we thought the Fed would just inflate our debts away......as if!

Movie quote quiz:

You boys owe me a lot of money for that beer you drank.

mab,

The pre-heckling trade did work out well for me. The institutional hecklers tried to scare me out midday or at the very least try to convince me to hedge my bet using heckling options and/or heckling stop losses but I held my ground, lol.

We've got the blues, brother!

GYSC,

That is too funny!

That guy was taking a huge risk by the way. The scratches on his neck due to the bird's claws were nothing compared to what the beak could have done. That beak may look small, but it could easily take an earlobe.

Our bird is slightly smaller and relatively tame. There is no way my girlfriend would want her on her head! (The bird has bonded to me and me alone.)

Powerful Bird Beaks

Just watching a large macaw or cockatoo crush a Brazil nut, rip a 2-by-4 into shreds or break a weld on metal cage bars convinces most observers that a bird’s beak is powerful and not to be messed with.

One day our previous bird was on my girlfriend's shoulder. It started making cute cat like noises and my girlfriend imitated them. In hindsight, it turns out the bird was agitated and did not appreciate being mocked. It went right for my girlfriend's mouth. There was definitely blood involved. She hasn't wanted a bird of that size on her shoulder since! D'oh!

I can trust our bird on my shoulder, but if a crow came flying into my office window while I was doing it, I would feel some serious pain. Like most birds, she'll bite those she likes for two reasons.

1. Displacement aggression. If she is angry and wants to bite something else but can't, then she will bite whatever is nearby.

2. Alarm. If she sees a threat in her environment the first thing she does is bite me to warn me. The strength of the bite is proportional to the danger perceived, ranging from mild to "OMG! We are about to be eaten!!!!"

Dude, after the clip I posted I am not sure I want to know more!

GYSC,

Our bird doesn't do that but she desperately tries to make a nest in my bookcase every now and then, lol.

We looked after a small bird a few years ago though while the owner was out of town. That bird fell for me hard. It would sit on my chest and do a hula type dance for me as long as I would keep repeating, "Who's a pretty birdy?"

I would like to think that all those birds love me for who I am inside, and not just for my bird brain, lol. ;)
